London last days

I'm actually back in NY but after the reminder that I still have a blog, I decided I should update this with some pictures of my last days in London.

Ahhh...our birthday! I baked a double layered chocolate cake and had an amazing friend send me flowers from back home! The cake was good but my bad self-control cost me when I overate and did not feel good for two days.

David played hookie one fine sunny day and we had the most wonderful time. We went up to St. Paul's Cathedral. The cathedral itself is beautiful with a fun whispering room. It has an interesting history and after climbing to the top, have a 360° view overlooking the city. The day got better when we scored free ice skating tickets at Somerset House and was able to catch a ride on the 9 bus without waiting. YES!

I love strolling antique stores and walked to Portobello Road one day. Passed by this window. These are by far the most affordable vintage costume jewelry I've seen that looks decent. I love the purple earrings/pendents. Don't really know what they are but I love the color. Too bad the place was closed. Maybe David can get them for me? =D

After having our flights cancelled due to a snowstorm in NY, we had an amazing fully paid night of relaxing at Park Inn before returning home.

Holiday travels to end 2010

We're back in London after a whirlwind country-hopping escapade during the holiday season. David was given the whole week off from Christmas to New Years so off we went! Our itinerary included Geneva, the French Alps, and Berlin.

Lessons learned: life is full of unexpected beautiful surprises and DO NOT OVERPACK.

At the French Alps in the famous Chamonix town. Went to see Mer de Glace up on Mont Blanc and this is the entrance for the cave they carve every year.

This beautiful place is Cordon. David was all upset about having booked the hotel outside of the more famous towns which means it was harder to get to. But in the end, it was worth it. That fog in the valley looks like a lake. Looking down, we felt like we were gods living on top of the mortals. Oh yeah, I can snowboard! (kinda)

Our luggage. Doesn't look like much but try carrying it around for a couple of hours and you will never want to pack so much again. Of course David carried the big one =)

Brandenburger Tor (Brandenburg Gate) in Berlin! We were able to walk around the area where they were setting up for the NYE party the following night. Yes we went to the awesome party! Points for David for scoring an apartment a couple of blocks away!

Our so-much-food-it-wanted-to-come-back-up traditional meal at Augustiner. We went without knowing it was going to be packed and need a reservation but while we were disappointingly discussing where else we can go for dinner the maitre d tapped us and lead us to a table! YAY!

I think I look good as a red-headed Viking.
